Published on November 14, 2023

Northrop Grumman's B-21 Raider, designed to succeed the B-1 and B-2 fleets in the US Air Force, has successfully completed its first flight less than a year after its official unveiling. Taking off from US Air Force Plant 42 in Palmdale, California, the strategic stealth bomber underwent a 90-minute flight, landing at Edwards Air Force Base. The flight test, executed by a Combined Test Force comprising Northrop Grumman and USAF personnel, aims to validate digital models and move closer to operational capability. The B-21 Raider, considered the world's first sixth-generation stealth bomber, is part of the US Air Force's plan to acquire 21 low-rate initial production aircraft with the potential for up to 100 in total.
