GA-ASI and EDGE Will Integrate Range of Smart Weapons Onto SkyGuardian
General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. (GA-ASI) and EDGE, an advanced technology group based in the UAE, have announced a partnership to integrate UAE-made smart weapons onto GA-ASI's MQ-9B SkyGuardian Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). The agreement, revealed at the Dubai Airshow, will involve integrating EDGE's precision-guided munition (PGM) and guided-glide weapon (GGW) solutions onto the MQ-9B SkyGuardian. This collaboration marks the first time UAE-made smart weapons will be integrated onto a U.S. unmanned platform, signaling a new era in U.S.-UAE defense cooperation. The smart weapons for integration include DESERT STING and THUNDER from HALCON, representing a significant step in the collaboration between the two companies and the potential for further partnerships within the UAE defense industry. The MQ-9B SkyGuardian is currently being considered by the UAE Armed Forces, which already operate GA-ASI's Predator XP.
