In a potential run-up to Ukraine’s anticipated counter-offensive in the ongoing war with Russia, Russian-appointed authorities in Crimea report ‘fending off’ a drone attack by Ukrainian forces on the port of Sevastopol. A drone was, separately, reportedly found in a forest near Moscow.

The drones which attacked the port were ‘sea drones,’ a tactic utilizing uncrewed surface vehicles (USVs) that Ukraine has already leveraged to significant effect in this conflict. A second USV was reported to have exploded without causing damage. Another drone was found only 30 kilometers (about 19 miles) east of Moscow which did not explode. This particular uncrewed aerial vehicle (UAV) was identified by Russian media as a Ukrainian-made UJ-22 Airborne. The UJ-22 is capable of autonomous flight while carrying roughly 20 kilograms (44 pounds) of explosives, but failed to reach its destination because of either a lack of fuel or by hitting a tree.
