Anduril Awarded Contract to Redefine the Future of Mixed Reality

Published on September 9, 2025

Anduril Industries has been awarded a $159 million U.S. Army contract to prototype the Soldier Borne Mission Command (SBMC) system, a next-generation night vision and mixed reality platform designed to give soldiers “superhuman” perception and faster decision-making on the battlefield. Building on limitations of traditional NVGs and command systems, Anduril’s solution integrates night, day, and thermal imagery with real-time battlefield intelligence into a helmet-mounted mixed reality display. In partnership with major tech firms like Meta, Qualcomm, and Palantir, Anduril is also leading the development of SBMC-Architecture (SBMC-A), an open software backbone built on its Lattice platform, enabling modular hardware, real-time drone control, rapid software updates, and continuous soldier feedback integration. By fusing AI, AR, and advanced sensors into a unified system, SBMC aims to eliminate fragmented tools, accelerate situational awareness, and redefine soldier capabilities in contested environments.
