C2 Robotics Speartooth LUUV Hits Capability Milestones At Navy’s Autonomous Warrior Event
C2 Robotics' Speartooth Large Uncrewed Underwater Vessel (LUUV) has passed and exceeded its latest round of demonstration and evaluation goals during the Royal Australian Navy's Exercise Autonomous Warrior 23.
The Speartooth Large Uncrewed Underwater Vehicle (LUUV), designed for the Royal Australian Navy, has successfully completed its trial phase as part of the Autonomous Warrior 2023 exercise, and is now poised for further development. Tom Loveard, the Chief Technology Officer at C2 Robotics, reported that the second-generation 8-meter-long vehicle displayed vital capabilities for the RAN, although specific outcomes from the trials were not disclosed. The LUUV, which can descend to 2000 meters and travel 2000 kilometers, is notable for its modularity, offering configurations for varying payload capacities. A new deployment method using a standard TEU container was also tested, enhancing its strategic value. The Speartooth's development has rapidly progressed in two years from concept to a viable platform, ready for high-scale production with industry partners, awaiting the navy's procurement decision.
