Indonesia Eyes Squadron of Domestically-Built Drones

Indonesia is set to enhance its defense capabilities by investing in the creation of domestically-produced drone squadrons. During a ceremony in Jakarta, Admiral Muhammad Ali, the Chief of Naval Staff, highlighted the importance of domestic and sophisticated UAVs in today's global drone warfare environment, emphasizing both reconnaissance and attack missions. He stressed the significance of training personnel in advanced warfare techniques, revealing that cadets and students are already receiving instruction in areas such as cyber warfare and sensor mastery. Notably, the country had previously procured military drones from Turkey and received eight ScanEagle drones from Boeing's subsidiary, Insitu, as part of its defense investments.
