The National Security Agency (NSA) has announced the formation of an "AI Security Center" as a dedicated space within its Cybersecurity Collaboration Center. This move is an initiative to unify its efforts regarding AI security. Gen. Paul Nakasone, director of the NSA, emphasized the importance of understanding and safeguarding against potential vulnerabilities in AI systems from foreign adversaries. He highlighted the role of the new center in offering guidelines, best practices, and risk assessment for AI security, aimed at fortifying national defense and security systems. This decision comes on the heels of a recent NSA study which identified an urgent need for reinforced AI security measures, with adversaries keen to exploit any chinks in the armor of US and allied AI networks. The center also seeks to prevent theft of America's innovative AI prowess by malicious international entities. Additionally, the NSA will work in conjunction with industry stakeholders, the intelligence community, and international partners to ensure robust AI security.
