US Army selects four companies for Robotic Combat Vehicle
The U.S. Army has selected four major defense companies—McQ, Textron, General Dynamics Land Systems, and Oshkosh—to develop prototypes for its cutting-edge Robotic Combat Vehicle (RCV) program. With a combined contract value of approximately $24.72 million, these companies are tasked with delivering two RCV prototypes by August 2024. RCVs are designed to be remotely operated and will serve in tandem with manned combat vehicles, functioning as scouts or escorts. The vehicles will feature light, medium, and heavy variants equipped with modular payloads for tasks like electronic warfare and counteracting unmanned aerial systems. Following this initial phase, one contractor will be chosen in 2025 for Phase II, which involves building nine more prototypes for fielding by 2028. The RCVs are part of the Army's broader Next Generation Combat Vehicle program aimed at modernizing its land forces.
