Kazakhstan says it will use AI to prevent bullying in army
Kazakhstan is taking steps to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) in its military modernization efforts to prevent bullying and other violations within its armed forces. The country's Ministry of Defense is developing a unified platform that will use its vast network of surveillance cameras and facial recognition technology to monitor troop behavior and curb non-statutory relations.
Currently, over 50,000 video cameras are deployed across military units, but they lack a cohesive system utilizing AI tools to address misconduct. The new video analytics system is expected to pilot later this year and become fully operational in 2024, providing real-time alerts to higher-level authorities in case of incidents. The move is part of Kazakhstan's broader efforts to modernize its military in response to recent geopolitical challenges and improve its military command system using digital approaches.
