UK Royal Signals use Interim Combined Arms Virtual Simulation – Deployable system to hone battlefield skills
The Interim Combined Arms Virtual Simulation (Deployable) (ICAVS (D)), a virtual reality (VR) system delivering combined arms training, has been tested and praised by soldiers from the UK's Royal Corps of Signals. Over 40 troops from 207 Armoured Signal Squadron, 15 Signal Regiment, used the computer-based training simulator equipped with Xbox and PlayStation controllers, VR headsets, steering wheels, and pedals to control avatars within a virtual world. The ICAVS system, developed by Elbit Systems UK, reduces training costs and the carbon footprint while providing immersive tactical training for soldiers in various scenarios. Although virtual training is valuable, live training remains essential, and the ICAVS will complement real-world exercises for enhanced preparedness.
