Published on November 6, 2025

General Atomics has unveiled the Gambit 6, the latest addition to its Gambit Series of unmanned combat air vehicles (UCAVs), expanding its capabilities to include air-to-ground operations alongside air-to-air combat. Designed as a multi-role platform, the Gambit 6 supports electronic warfare, suppression of enemy air defences, and precision strikes, while maintaining a modular architecture shared across the Gambit family for rapid variant development. The announcement aligns with General Atomics’ push into the European defence market, with international procurement of Gambit 6 planned for 2027 and European versions by 2029, supported by a new YFQ-42 production facility in Germany. This development occurs amid a global surge in autonomous combat aircraft innovation, driven by U.S.–China competition, with companies like Kratos, Anduril, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, and Shield AI also accelerating their programs toward increasingly capable and independent unmanned fighters.
