DSEI 2025: Cambridge Aerospace Skyhammer and Starhammer interceptors make debut

Published on September 11, 2025

UK defence firm Cambridge Aerospace has unveiled two new tube-launched interceptor missiles, Skyhammer and Starhammer, at DSEI to meet the rising demand for hard-kill air defence against missiles and UAVs. Skyhammer, with a range of up to 30 km and speeds of Mach 0.7, and Starhammer, with a 10 km range, both use blast fragment warheads and an in-house radar seeker for all-weather targeting—unlike most visual-based systems at their price point. Currently in advanced testing after rapid development, the firm plans to move Skyhammer into production soon, scaling from hundreds to thousands of units monthly. Backed by $135 million in funding—including Ukrainian investor D3—Cambridge Aerospace emphasises their unusually low cost (around 1–2% of traditional interceptors) achieved through autonomous engineering, aiming to offer affordable, mass-produced air defence solutions, with Europe and the UK as initial priorities.
