Zelensky has imposed sanctions against companies related to the UAV technologies in Russian drones

On August 17, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree implementing sanctions against companies involved in supplying or developing artificial intelligence technologies used in Russian drones, aiming to disrupt key supply chains for advanced UAVs. The sanctions target Russian firms such as Progmatic, Neurolab, and the Center for UAV Systems and Technologies, which produce or develop AI-enabled kamikaze drones and autonomous navigation systems, as well as foreign suppliers from countries including China that provide essential components like engines, navigation receivers, and microcircuits. According to Sanctions Commissioner Vladyslav Vlasyuk, Russia is heavily investing in AI-powered UAVs to enhance autonomy, accuracy, and resistance to electronic warfare, making sanctions critical to restricting their development. Additionally, Zelensky signed a second decree amending the sanctions register to allow vessels to be included.
