Germany’s Vector AI Drone Debuts on Ukraine’s Frontlines With Acoustic Detection System
German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems has provided Ukraine with a Vector AI unmanned aerial vehicle equipped with artificial intelligence and an acoustic system for detecting enemy artillery fire.
The delivery was announced by Quantum Systems co-founder Florian Seibel via LinkedIn on August 10. The Vector AI is capable of both reconnaissance and locating enemy artillery positions, with its AI processing data to pinpoint firing locations.
The UAV is fitted with the WASP (Weles Acoustic Sensor Payload) developed by Polish manufacturer Weles Acoustics, a subsidiary of Quantum Systems.
“Acoustic sensing has arrived above the Ukrainian frontlines. VectorAI is capable of sensing direction/distance of artillery being fired boosting a flight time of up to 4 hours,” Seibel said.
