Solutions to win: Ukrainian engineers develop ground robot with AI turret capable of shooting down drones
Ukrainian engineers from the Brave1 defense technology cluster have developed a ground robot equipped with an AI-powered automated turret capable of autonomously detecting and destroying enemy drones. Built by the makers of the TerMIT robotic platform and the Predator combat module, the system uses artificial intelligence to analyze, identify, and neutralize threats without human intervention, though it can also be remotely operated to reduce risks for soldiers. In addition to combat functions, the robot can transport supplies, evacuate the wounded, and perform engineering tasks like minelaying. This innovation is part of Ukraine’s broader push to integrate AI into defense technology, supported by initiatives such as AI competitions for detecting explosives and the K4 Startup Studio program, which aims to give Ukraine a technological edge on the battlefield with backing from Germany’s defense ministry and BRDO.
