Commission launches strategy to make Europe Quantum leader by 2030
The European Commission has launched the Quantum Europe Strategy to position Europe as a global leader in quantum technologies by 2030. The strategy aims to build a resilient, sovereign quantum ecosystem by supporting research, innovation, infrastructure development, skills training, and dual-use technologies. Key initiatives include establishing a quantum design facility, six pilot chip production lines, a pilot quantum internet facility, and a European Quantum Skills Academy. With expected global market growth to over €155 billion by 2040 and the creation of thousands of skilled jobs, the strategy seeks to boost Europe's industrial competitiveness and technological sovereignty, with plans to introduce a Quantum Act in 2026 to further drive investment and industrialisation.
