Denmark says Europeans should continue buying US military equipment

Despite recent tensions between Denmark and the U.S.—notably over President Trump's demand to take control of Greenland—Danish Defence Minister Troels Lund Poulsen emphasized the importance of maintaining strong defence ties with the U.S., encouraging continued European investment in U.S.-made military equipment like the F-35. While acknowledging the need for Europe to develop its own military capabilities to reduce reliance on the U.S., Poulsen reaffirmed Denmark's commitment to NATO spending goals and announced an additional €1.5 billion investment in Ukraine for weapons development. As Denmark assumes the rotating EU Council presidency, Poulsen pledged a more assertive leadership focused on defence amid growing global threats.
