Anthropic launches new Claude service for military and intelligence use
Anthropic has unveiled Claude Gov, a specialized AI product designed for U.S. defense and intelligence agencies, offering models with relaxed guardrails to better analyze classified information and support national security tasks like threat assessment and intelligence analysis. Already in use at high levels of U.S. security, these models are trained for deeper contextual understanding, relevant language proficiency, and reduced refusal rates when handling sensitive data. While Anthropic maintains restrictions on weapon development and disinformation, it has made contractual exceptions for vetted government use, reflecting a broader industry trend of AI firms, including OpenAI and Scale AI, expanding into government partnerships despite ongoing concerns over surveillance, bias, and misuse.
