Published on May 29, 2025

UK-based Kraken Technology Group has unveiled its K3 Scout uncrewed surface vessel (USV) to the North American market at SOF Week in Tampa, Florida, showcasing it as a modular, scalable, and high-performance maritime platform already in production and under order from a NATO customer. Designed originally as a low-cost, one-way-attack craft, the K3 Scout offers versatility with an interchangeable payload bay, long endurance (up to 30 days at sea), and high speed (up to 55 knots). The vessel supports a range of mission modules including C5ISR, and can operate autonomously or with a crew. Its capabilities are enhanced by AI software and GPS-denied navigation systems, with future upgrades planned for counter-UUV missions. Kraken has already demonstrated the craft in the UK with mock munitions and continues to explore additional mission roles such as logistics and counter-uncrewed systems.
