
Saab CEO urges EU countries to get defence projects off the ground

Saab CEO Micael Johansson has called on European governments to accelerate the implementation of EU-backed defence projects, asserting that Europe's military spending boom is only in its early stages amid heightened security concerns following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. Speaking at the company’s Karlskoga plant, Johansson emphasized the importance of Europe taking greater responsibility for its defence and welcomed the EU's new €150 billion arms fund with a focus on buying European. Saab, which has seen record orders and a doubling of its share price this year, is targeting significant growth through 2027 and plans to further expand its production capacity, partnerships, and acquisitions to meet rising demand.
