The US military is shifting its focus from traditional heavy vehicles like tanks to advanced drone technology, inspired by Ukraine’s effective use of drones in modern warfare. Both the Army and Marines are testing new squad formations, tactics, and equipment, including 3D-printed FPV drones, to enhance battlefield capabilities and protect assets like the M1 Abrams tank. As part of this transformation, the Army plans to equip each combat division with nearly 1,000 drones for surveillance and attack roles, while cutting back on purchases of traditional vehicles like the M10 Booker tank and HUMVEE replacements. This strategic pivot reflects a broader recognition that future conflicts will prioritize innovation, information, and drone warfare over sheer firepower.
