Chinese drones hailed by foreign clients

The China Academy of Aerospace Aerodynamics has sold over 200 Caihong (Rainbow) combat drones to more than 10 countries, particularly in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, where they have been extensively used in counterterrorism operations. With nearly 70,000 hours of combat deployment and a 98.2% strike success rate, the drones—especially the CH-4 model—have been praised for their performance, cost-efficiency, and reliability, generating around $2 billion in exports. The academy recently introduced the CH-9, a heavy-duty strike drone comparable to the U.S. MQ-9 Reaper, and continues to see strong demand, including repeat orders and interest in civilian applications like cargo transport and mineral exploration.
