EDA tests autonomous systems ahead of operational experimentation campaign

In preparation for the European Defence Agency's Operational Experimentation (OPEX) campaign in Rome in June and July 2025, rigorous system acceptance tests were conducted across the EU to evaluate the readiness of unmanned aerial and ground systems from six participating companies, ensuring they meet defined technical, reliability, operational, and safety standards for deployment in realistic operational settings hosted by the Italian Army; this OPEX campaign, facilitated by EDA's Hub for European Defence Innovation (HEDI), aims to accelerate the integration of autonomous systems into future EU defence capabilities and serve as a strategic enabler for the rapid adoption of emerging technologies across the European defence landscape.
