Bahrain Launches First Domestically Built Satellite, ‘Al Munther’
According to The Egyptian Gazette, the National Space Science Agency (NSSA) of Bahrain spearheaded the development of ‘Al Munther,’ a 3U CubeSat equipped with advanced technological payloads.
The satellite’s primary mission is to capture high-quality images of Bahrain and its territorial waters, utilizing a medium-resolution space camera with a resolution of 20 meters per pixel. Notably, ‘Al Munther’ incorporates an artificial intelligence (AI) system capable of real-time image analysis, making it the first nanosatellite in the region to feature such advanced AI capabilities. This innovation enables efficient processing and utilization of the captured imagery.
In addition to its imaging capabilities, the satellite includes a cybersecurity payload featuring advanced encryption technologies designed to safeguard data from unauthorized access or tampering. This ensures the integrity and security of the information transmitted to ground stations.
