ELT Group joins R&S effort to deliver cutting-edge EW systems for German and Polish frigates
German company Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) has contracted Italy’s ELT Group to provide electronic warfare (EW) components for the German Navy’s F124-class frigates and the Polish Navy’s new Miecznick-class multirole frigates, the two companies announced on 27 February.
The collaboration is founded on ELT Group’s capability to provide high-calibre solutions that align with Rohde & Schwarz’ stringent technical and commercial standards, as well as the synergistic fit between both companies’ portfolios, the companies stated.
In October 2024 R&S was commissioned by the German Federal Office for Equipment, Information Technology and Use (BAAINBw) to supply and integrate systems for communications, radar electronic support measures and radar countermeasures (C-ESM/R-ESM/R-ECM) from its KORA family for the German Navy’s three F124 Sachsen-class frigates. In July 2024, meanwhile, R&S was contracted to supply C-ESM/R-ESM systems for Poland’s three Miecznick-class multi-role frigates. The R&S systems enhance the ships’ situational awareness and strengthen their early warning and self-protection capabilities.
