PGZ Repurposes WLKM Multi-Barrel Heavy Machine Gun As A New Solution Against UAVs.
At IDEX 2025, Poland’s PGZ has made a notable appearance by presenting the WLKM, a versatile and efficient counter-Unmanned Aerial System (C-UAS) solution. This multi-barrel, heavy machine gun has garnered attention for its combination of firepower, mobility, and cost-effectiveness, making it a key player in modern defense strategies.
Since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine, the use of drones—whether for reconnaissance, surveillance, or attack—has significantly transformed battlefield dynamics. These devices, due to their low cost and high ability to operate stealthily and accurately, have enabled both regular and irregular forces to conduct targeted strikes while minimizing risks to their operators. However, their proliferation has led to an urgent need for effective and cost-efficient countermeasures. Anti-drone systems have become essential to protect critical infrastructure, ground troops, and sensitive equipment. Finding suitable solutions that combine effectiveness, rapid deployment, and controlled costs has become imperative for armed forces, especially given the variety of drones in use, ranging from small modified commercial devices to more sophisticated systems.
