Serbia Commences Distribution of Komarac Kamikaze Drones to Military

Serbia’s Ministry of Defense has begun adopting the Komarac family of single-use unmanned aerial systems for its armed forces.

Belgrade’s decision to employ the technology followed the government’s development of two configurations of tactical drones supporting all-weather and electronic warfare capabilities last year in partnership with the Serbian Military Technical Institute and state-owned defense company Yugoimport.

The Military Technical Institute noted that the drone carries a modified warhead with both cumulative and fragmentation effects effective against foot soldiers and armored vehicles.

Deployment of the drone requires a two-man team, while flights can be set to stationary or moving modes.

The defense agency said that “a significant number” of selected military members have already entered training to operate the new drone in different climatic, mechanical, and electromagnetic conditions across urban and rural domains
