U.S. State Department Hosts First AI Military Use Meeting

This week, the U.S. State Department is kicking off an exciting event, bringing together countries that have agreed to work together on using artificial intelligence (AI) in a responsible way, especially when it comes to the military.

This is the first time they're meeting up, and it's a big deal because AI in the military is something a lot of people are worried about.

Mark Montgomery from the Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation had some good things to say about it to Fox News Digital.

He's all for how the State Department is keeping the conversation going about using AI ethically in the military. But, he's quick to note that this group is a bit of a mixed bag - not every country is on board, especially some that we're really worried about, like China and Russia.

Last year, 53 countries signed on to this promise to use AI in the military the right way, but some big names were missing. Still, 42 of those countries are coming to this week's meeting, ready to chat with over 100 experts from different backgrounds about all the ways AI has been popping up in military gear and strategies lately.
