The study, led by Dr Noah Philip, aims to provide an alternative to traditional PTSD treatments like medications and psychotherapy, which may have side effects. The team worked with veterans to create a virtual reality war zone, simulating their experiences from overseas deployments. The device also introduced pain-free low electrical brain stimulation to enhance the treatment. The experimental combination aims to keep participants out of the hospital for an extended period.
