Naval Group Selected to Develop Autonomous Underwater Drone for French Defense Agency

French defense industry company, Naval Group, has been chosen by the French Defense Procurement Agency (DGA) to produce an autonomous underwater drone demonstrator. The contract, awarded on December 28, 2023, includes the design, production, and testing of an unmanned combat underwater vehicle (UCUV) demonstrator.

This project builds upon a previous contract that Naval Group received on May 4, 2023, to study the main use cases and system architecture of a UCUV. The objective is to evaluate technologies and design a UCUV demonstrator that meets the French Navy’s requirements.
