Lift Off for HoloLens! The US Space Force and Microsoft Build a AR Space Simulation

The $19.8MN agreement helps breathe new life into Microsoft’s mixed-reality business

The US Space Systems Command (SSC) has renewed its partnership with Microsoft as it builds an augmented reality (AR) space simulation.

That simulation will provide an “immersive intelligent environment” (I3E) and feature orbital objects – including planets and satellites – that users can interact with via a HoloLens headset.

The Space Force will pay $19.8MN over one year to secure the scaled environment, with the option for three more years of Azure-driven mixed reality.
