This warning follows an incident involving Xiaolang Zhang, a former Apple employee, who was apprehended at the San Jose, California airport en route to Beijing in 2018. Zhang was charged with stealing trade secrets from Apple’s autonomous-driving program, a case that symbolizes the broader fears of China’s aggressive acquisition of AI technology for its spying operations.
