Backpack jammer prototyped by CACI’s Mastodon passes early Army test

The U.S. Army has successfully conducted preliminary testing of the Terrestrial Layer System-Brigade Combat Team Manpack (TLS-BCT Manpack), a portable jammer designed to be carried by soldiers to manipulate electronic signals while on the move. Developed by CACI International-owned Mastodon Design, the TLS-BCT Manpack demonstrated its effectiveness in an operational demonstration at Fort Huachuca in Arizona. The system is part of the Army's efforts to revitalize its electronic warfare capabilities in response to evolving threats. The backpack version aims to provide troops with a mobile means of shaping the electromagnetic spectrum to their advantage without imposing excessive physical burdens in terms of size, weight, and power. CACI, a major defense contractor, is actively contributing to the Army's electronic warfare initiatives, with contracts for the TLS line totaling tens of millions of dollars.
