Sentient ViDAR optical sensors pass successful test flights on uncrewed systems

Published on November 28, 2023

Sentient Vision Systems' ViDAR (Visual Detection and Ranging) sensor, an AI-enabled optical sensor, has successfully completed a Foreign Comparative Testing (FCT) project for the US Marine Corps (USMC). The project, initiated by the US Navy NAVAIR PMA 263, aimed to evaluate ViDAR's capabilities for USMC operations in wide-area maritime environments. ViDAR, developed in Australia, uses AI and edge computing to passively detect and identify objects in motion imagery. The successful FCT project opens the door for enhanced application integration and operational deployment with the USMC. ViDAR has applications in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and search and rescue missions.
