German defence contractor Hensoldt sees investment opportunities in AI

Hensoldt, a German defence electronics company, emphasized the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) and analytics as key investment areas during its Capital Markets Day. The company, known for producing radars for Ukraine's IRIS-T air defence system, regards mergers and acquisitions as integral to its growth strategy, particularly in AI, analytics, services, and integration. Amidst rising global geopolitical instability, Hensoldt's orders have more than doubled since 2019, prompting plans to pursue European consolidation through acquisitions. The company recently announced a capital increase to finance the purchase of ESG, a German military service firm. Despite the uncertain global environment, Hensoldt maintains its annual and mid-term financial guidance, with a strong order backlog ensuring about 85% of its 2024 revenue.
