Milipol 2023: Serbian Company PR-DC Unveils 60mm Mortar Kamikaze Drone

At Milipol Paris 2023, the Serbian company Pink Research & Development Centre (PR-DC) has unveiled a groundbreaking 60mm mortar bomb kamikaze drone, showcasing a significant advancement in drone warfare technology. This quadcopter-style drone, with Vertical Take-Off and Landing (VTOL) capabilities, has a takeoff mass of 3.5 kg and is designed to carry an aerial bomb based on a modified M736 mortar shell with an M68P1-D fuse. The drone boasts an operational range of up to 15 km, guided by GNSS, and features a high-resolution camera for target identification and manual navigation. Notably, its control system allows for the operation of multiple drones simultaneously from a single ground station, potentially offering a strategic advantage in combat scenarios. While the drone's technological innovation is evident, its introduction has prompted discussions about the ethical implications of autonomous weapon systems, emphasizing the need for stringent regulations in deploying such advanced weaponry in conflict zones.
