
New capability agreement with Microsoft
The Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has formed a strategic collaboration with Microsoft to foster the safe, responsible, and ethical use of artificial intelligence (AI) within the UK's defence sector. This non-contractual partnership will concentrate on innovation, skill sharing, and technical exchange to bolster AI expertise. Guided by the MOD's ethical AI principles, the initiative will facilitate Microsoft's support in Dstl and the Defence AI Centre's learning agenda, providing early software insights and shared AI capabilities. The collaboration aims to maintain pace with AI advancements, ensuring the UK Armed Forces can leverage AI technology for a strategic advantage, improving threat response, and enhancing force safety through this industry-military exchange of knowledge and resources.
