Published on November 3, 2023
The Royal Australian Navy collaborated with the defense industry in a two-week Exercise Autonomous Warrior at Jervis Bay, testing autonomous and uncrewed systems for future maritime warfare. This year's emphasis was on autonomous undersea warfare systems, which are vital for the Australian Defence Force's operations. The exercise offers a platform to enhance trusted autonomy and ensure its alignment with the Navy's existing fleets. These exercises enhance Defence's ability to integrate new technologies efficiently, in line with the Defence Strategic Review. Rear Admiral Stephen Hughes emphasized the importance of working with allies and industry partners to comprehend the use of autonomous systems in the evolving strategic landscape.
