Hackers trying to corrupt AI, raising level of ransomware threat: S’pore cyber-security director

Cybersecurity experts at the National Cyber Threat Analysis Centre in Singapore are expressing concerns about cyber criminals attempting to corrupt generative artificial intelligence (AI) to create ransomware. Generative AI platforms, initially developed as productivity tools, have been targeted by cyber criminals who aim to exploit AI's full malicious potential, particularly in underground forums and on the dark web. This emerging threat poses a significant concern for cybersecurity agencies worldwide, potentially enabling individuals to create ransomware without technical expertise, drastically escalating the threat landscape. The Counter Ransomware Task Force has been established in Singapore to enhance counter-ransomware efforts and support victims of ransomware attacks.
