Anduril to hone Ghost drone autonomy under contract with US Air Force
The U.S. Air Force has awarded defense technology firm Anduril Industries contracts amounting to $8 million to enhance the autonomous capabilities of two drone aircraft: the Ghost reconnaissance, security, and force protection unmanned aircraft, and the recently revealed upgraded version called Ghost-X. The contracts, spanning 12 and 18 months respectively, will involve refining autonomy, hardware, and specific autonomous behaviors of the drones, along with the purchase of some Ghost aircraft. Ghost-X improvements enable longer flight times and increased payload capacity, advancing its modularity and resilience for diverse operational environments. Anduril's collaboration supports the Air Force's initiative to develop autonomous technologies for countering threats globally.
