The Defense Innovation Unit (DIU) is seeking artificial intelligence (AI) technology to enhance open-source intelligence (OSINT) capabilities for military intelligence. The AI system would comb through commercial and public data sources to identify and characterize foreign state competitors and adversaries' research and development activities across five critical technology areas. This AI-driven OSINT can provide valuable insights into the maturity and direction of rival technologies, enabling more strategic planning and early detection of potential threats, ultimately benefiting military and intelligence agencies in their assessments of foreign research efforts.
