US Army Kick-Starts AI Pipeline Project for Sensor Requirements

Published on October 9, 2023

The US Army has initiated Project Linchpin by granting Booz Allen Hamilton and Red Hat a $2-million contract. This project aims to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) for enhanced intelligence gathering, cyber operations, and electronic warfare sensor requirements, targeting sources such as synthetic aperture radar and electronic intelligence. By leveraging commercial technologies, the Army intends to address challenges in AI optimization and data assimilation. Emphasizing the principles of traceability, observability, replaceability, and consumability (TORC), the contract will support research efforts for six months, with an option to extend for five more years. The project signifies the Army's move towards a more modular and secure AI and ML integration.
