Chinese defense firms show off counter-drone tech at Serbia arms show

Chinese defense companies are expanding their footprint in Serbia, particularly with an eye on the broader Balkan market. At the Partner 23 defense exhibition in Belgrade, the strengthening bond between China and Serbia was evident, marking an uptrend since Serbia was described as China’s "open-door" to the Balkans in a 2019 Carnegie Endowment for International Peace report. At the defense event, three out of the four participating Chinese defense firms were attending for the first time. Key products showcased included China National Precision Machinery Import & Export Corp.'s LW-30 laser weapon systems designed to target low-speed drones and ELINC China's CHL-906 radar jamming and electronic intelligence station. Notably, despite the prominence of drone technology globally, few drones were on display by the Chinese firms, with the Wing Loong II being a rare exception.
