In a recent NATO exercise held in Portugal, BAE Systems in collaboration with Malloy Aeronautics showcased the capabilities of the T-600 heavy lift uncrewed air system (UAS). The T-600 is an electric-powered aircraft, about the size of a small car, which can vertically take off and land, travel at speeds up to 140km/h, and has a range of up to 80km depending on its payload. During this exercise, the T-600 made history by releasing an inert Sting Ray training variant anti-submarine torpedo for the first time at sea. This multinational exercise, named REPMUS, involved 15 NATO partners, including Ireland and Sweden, and aimed to test and integrate the latest maritime technologies. The T-600's successful demonstration paves the way for its successor, the T-650, which promises even greater versatility for military, commercial, and humanitarian purposes. The demonstration exemplifies the growing importance and flexibility of drones in modern warfare and highlights the collaborative spirit among major defense players in driving innovation.
