Australia to focus R&D on asymmetric warfighting, chief scientist says
Australia is undergoing significant changes in its defense and innovation ecosystems through the implementation of its Defense Strategic Review and participation in a trilateral technology-sharing agreement with the U.K. and U.S. The review emphasizes innovation, science, and technology in six key areas, including hypersonics and quantum technologies, to disrupt military operations and enhance collaboration with allies. However, Australia is also determining development priorities to optimize limited innovation resources and align them with warfighting needs. The creation of the Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA) further aims to address military problems quickly, with a focus on autonomy and close coordination with allies like the U.K. and U.S.
