According to the U.S. State Department, the sale aims to enhance Bulgaria's capabilities for homeland defense and deterring regional threats. This development follows Bulgaria's recent decision to send approximately 100 armored personnel carriers to Ukraine, marking its first major military aid transfer to the embattled nation. The U.S. has also been ramping up military aid to other eastern European nations, including a $12 billion deal with Poland for Apache attack helicopters and advanced Abrams tanks.
