UVision to develop new versions of its loitering munitions for the U.S. Armed Forces
The U.S. facility of Israeli company Uvision is set to develop new versions of its Hero-120 loitering munitions, tailored to meet the specific operational needs of the U.S. Armed Forces. The move aims to enhance Uvision's competitive standing against American munition manufacturers. Uvision was awarded a contract in early 2022 to supply the Hero-120 for the U.S. Marine Corps Organic Precision Fire Mounted (OPF-M) System, which will be integrated with various military vehicles like the LAV-M, JLTV, and LRUSV. The Hero-120 system is a high-precision, mid-range, anti-armor weapon system designed for a variety of targets, including tanks and fortifications. Sources indicate that the focus for new versions will include longer endurance, immunity against new defense systems, and a wider variety of warheads.
