More than 200 attendees from government, industry and academia participated in a three-day conference hosted by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.

The U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) recently hosted a three-day conference focused on the development and ethical implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) and autonomous systems. Organized by the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering, the event drew over 200 experts from government, military, academia, and the private sector, and featured in-depth discussions on technology gaps, future initiatives, and new safety approaches like "Constitutional AI." The conference served as a platform for cross-sector collaboration and laid the groundwork for future events and workshops, with the aim of safely and responsibly integrating AI and autonomous systems into the defense sector.
