
Saab makes AI statement of intent with BlueBear acquisition
Dean Rosenfield, group managing director at Saab UK, told media that the acquisition was part of a “deliberate strategy” to grow and expand business in Britain.
Swedish defense company Saab has acquired BlueBear, a UK-based manufacturer specializing in AI-enabled autonomous swarm systems for defense and security applications. The acquisition is part of Saab's strategic plan to expand its business in the UK and other key markets, including the US, Australia, and Germany. Saab aims to integrate BlueBear's AI technology into its existing systems, such as the maritime 9LV combat management system, and sees potential for its application in the Gripen multirole fighter jet. The financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
