Thales and Naval Group to provide through-life support for France’s multi-mission frigates
Thales and Naval Group have entered into a significant through-life support contract to maintain the operational readiness of the French Navy's eight multi-mission FREMM frigates. The contract, which began in January 2023, is one of the largest ever awarded to Thales by Naval Group and aims to ensure the day-to-day availability and long-term operational capabilities of the frigates based in Brest and Toulon. Leveraging Thales's expertise in naval systems and technologies, the contract covers sonars, radars, optronics, and communication systems on the warships, which are a crucial part of France's anti-submarine capabilities. An integrated center of expertise is being established, featuring a multi-disciplinary team to continuously monitor equipment performance and provide rapid response for technical issues, thereby maintaining the frigates' high operational readiness.
